The following is a transcript of a Citizen Comment I presented at the Williamson County Commissioners Court on January 12, 2011. If you’d like to view video from that meeting, please go to my Facebook Page.
Good morning Judge, good morning Commissioners, Citizens of Williamson County.
If you haven’t had a chance to get over to the coffee shop this morning on the square, you should today. There’s an interesting photograph of the Williamson County Courthouse with an ominous cloud gathering over it.
The winds of change are blowing.
Today we have a debacle on our hands thanks to our commissioners. We have a big, serious problem locally with corrupt politicians running our county budget. You see, when you take money from people that have a vested interest in doing business with the county you take the tax payers money and you put it into the county coffer . That money goes from the coffer to the developer and when that developer gets that money he cuts up pieces of it and it ends up back in to campaign pockets of politicians.
These politicians.
No incumbent in this county should remain in office. Not one. It’s time to clean house. These people work at the consent of the citizens. Not the developers. Not the toll road consultants. Not the Trans- Texas Corridor consultants. Not any of the people that donate to their campaigns. They work for me and you.
Now it’s been a long time in this county that oppression and intimidation factors have worked to suppress the voice of the people. But the winds of change are upon us and it’s time for us to take a stand. We have to stand our ground for our neighbor; we have to stand our ground for our county and our country.
I’ve been to a lot of these meetings and I’ve heard a lot of prayers, but I haven’t seen a lot of action. I’m praying for peace, I’m praying for citizen responsibility and I’m praying for change. Thank you very much, have a wonderful day.
